Be the Heart Behind Their First Steps

Puppy & Adult Raisers – Foundational People, Big Impact

Every amazing service and guide dog starts with someone like you - someone who opens their home, shares their time, and helps a pup learn how wonderful the world can be.

Whether you’re ready for the joy (and fun chaos!) of a puppy, the steady rhythm of an adult dog, or just want to help now and then, you can be the reason a dog succeeds.

About Us

Canis Vitae Service Dogs Canada is a dedicated breeder of purpose-bred service dog candidates. We work exclusively with service dog programs, providing puppies that are carefully selected and raised for their health, stability, and working potential.

Mission

Canis Vitae Service Dogs Canada is dedicated to the ethical breeding of high-quality service dog candidates, prioritizing  health,  temperaments, and overall balance. We provide quality working dog prospects to service dog school programs requiring support to manage their pup supply needs and with the potential to create the next generation of service and guide dogs.

Vision

To advance the breeding of elite service dog candidates defined by health, temperament, and reliability.

Puppy Enrichment Program

At Canis Vitae Service Dogs Canada, the Puppy Enrichment Program (PEP) establishes a critical foundation for future service dog candidates. From day three to sixteen, Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) is introduced. This promotes healthy neurological development, stress resilience, and overall wellbeing.

As the puppies mature, they are gradually exposed to a broad range of sensory experiences including varied sounds, scents, surfaces, objects, and visual stimuli to encourage confidence and curiosity. By four weeks of age, structured play sessions are incorporated to support social development and exploratory behavior in a controlled environment.

At eight weeks, the puppies begin carefully planned outings to unfamiliar environments, helping them adapt to the types of public settings they may encounter in their future roles.

The objective of the PEP is to raise confident, well-balanced puppies with the behavioral stability and social foundation required to progress toward service and guide dog training.

Our Story

Canis Vitae Service Dogs Canada began with a simple but powerful belief: the path to an exceptional service dog begins at birth. What started as a deep respect for working dogs grew into a mission to contribute meaningfully to the service dog community by doing what we do best — breeding.

Over the years, being in the service dog industry we’ve seen the difference that intentional, ethical breeding can make. We’ve invested in science-backed practices like early neurological stimulation and structured enrichment, not because they’re trendy, but because they work. Every litter is raised with purpose, every puppy with care. This isn’t just our work, it’s our calling.
